If you are an 80’s/90’s kid, then you would remember seeing this on Indian roads.
Bajaj Tempo Matador (Bajaj Tempo is now @forcemotors ) was one of the famous MUVs and India’s first diesel light-motor vehicle with a D 301 E2 1.8-litre engine.
The Matador was the ultimate utility vehicle and came in many forms such as MUV, pick-up truck, delivery van, ambulance etc.
My earliest memories with the Matador were while travelling to school in a green matador. I couldn’t count the number of kids that travelled in it. At that time, it felt very huge and roomy inside and we used to have a ball. As a kid crazy for automobiles, I used to observe our driver navigating the vehicle on the busy Dahisar & Borivali roads to school and back. The sound of the diesel engine, the revs just fascinated me.
